Hutt Camera Club is a friendly welcoming club that aims to help people to enjoy and improve their photography. If you come to us, you will be made very welcome.
We currently have about 65 members, at various skill levels from total beginner to nationally recognised expert. We meet on the second and fourth Tuesday of each month, in the clubrooms of the Hutt Valley Tramping Club in Birch St, Lower Hutt. Meetings usually begin with a welcome to newcomers.
We run optional competitions in three grades (beginner, intermediate and advanced). These are run four times a year and the results are judged by qualified judges at our meetings. Members may enter prints and/or projected digital images. We have a number of informal special interest groups within the club which meet when the mood takes them and pursue their particular interests such as landscape, portrait or macro.
At most of our meetings, we have either guest speakers or educational activities intended to inspire members to stretch their own imagination and make better images. Most importantly, at the end of each meeting, members stay on and mingle over tea, coffee and biscuits and swap stories and plan their next steps. It is a great opportunity for people to learn from those who are doing great work. Come and join us. We find that new friends very quickly become part of the family.
Each month from February to December the Hutt Camera Club produces a newsletter, “sHUTTer speak”
